AutoPro 7.0c

AutoPro 7.0c has the answers you've been looking for in designing silicone rubber heate2 circuits using wound wire. The software is a tool which will Design, Engineer and Draw your circuits to your specifications in a fraction of time over conventional methods.

You start by entering basic heate2 information such as the heater size and electrical requirements. Then you set a series of targets based on how you want the circuit to be designed. AutoPro is unique in its designing format since you can run the values and target designs within your specifications. The design closest to your requirements will be displayed. You can quickly view your design and make any fine tune changes to the circuit. Once finished with the design you can export the drawing into a CAD program such as Auto CAD®, Turbo CAD® etc.

Total Focus:
Wouldn't it be nice to simply specify the resistance wire before engineering a circuit?.
Let's say you have new rush order for a silicone heate2 and someone asks you "can we use some of the extra resistance wire wound from other jobs?". With AutoPro you can find the answer. AutoPro uses a reversed engineering process (designed specifically for the AutoPro software) which will target the Ohms/Ft resistance that you set the target value to. In many cases you can use the same resistance wire on many circuit designs. You can also stock wound wire and engineer your circuits to this wire. This speeds up jobs requiring quick deliveries. Targeting the resistance with Total Focus has many other advantages such as reducing the wattage displaced on the surface area of the resistance wire. Designing the circuit within a ohms/Ft range can reduce the watts displaced on the resistance wire resulting in a cooler running circuit. The amount of watts/in² displaced on the resistance wire becomes more critical as the operating temperature of the heate2 increases along with the application (how well the heat is displaced away from the heater).

For instance lets say you have an existing circuit with the following specifications:

Single 240VAC circuit 14.5 feet long resistance element with 18 ohms/Ft resistance operating at 375°F.

At the time you only have four resistance wires available. .0071" dia, .0063" dia, .005" dia and .0045" dia (all wires are 80/20 Nichrome® with 650 ohms/CFM winding around a .018" fiberglass thread). From the wires available AutoPro can create 36 wound wire combinations. From the database of 36 combinations six possible choices are found by AutoPro. Which one of the three show below should you use for your circuit?

A.) .0071" dia wire winding 13.6 winds/in.
B.) .005" + .0045" dia wires winding at 11.3 winds/in.
C.) .0063" dia wire winding 6.57 winds/in.
AutoPro software

If you picked A.) the watts/in² displaced on this resistance wire = 40.47.
If you picked C.) the watts/in² displaced on this resistance wire = 57.95.
If you picked B.) the watts/in² displaced on this resistance wire = 35.38.

The resistance wire for C.) is 64% more watts/in² over B.). Lower watts/in² on the surface area of the resistance wire becomes a crucial requirement when the heate2 is subject to higher operating temperatures. The AutoPro program will find, calculate and sort selected wires within a database that you've created. From the list you can examine data and select which wound wires to incorporate in your circuit design. The results AutoPro provides on the resistance wire performance is unprecedented over current methods of circuit design.

Software speed:

AutoPro is written in the fastest programming language available today and due to the large number of calculations within the program we suggest running the AutoPro software on the following as a minimum system for fast results:

IBM® or compatible computer Pentium® 586 or higher with 200+MHz speed or equivalent.
Operating system: Windows95®(minimum), 98®,2000® or NT®
RAM: 24meg (minimum), 64-128meg (recommended)
Disk space: 50meg, depending on database size 250meg (recommended)
Video: SVGA 800x600 screen resolution with 256 colors
Pointing device: Mouse, Tracker ball etc compatible with operating system.
Printer: compatible with operating system.
Back up device: Optional

Program results:
Initial design of a small heate2 1" x 18" = 1 Sec.
Draw & export a small heate2 1" x 18" to a file = 1 Sec.*
Initial design of a large heate2 36" x 48" = 1 Sec.
Draw & export a large heate2 36" x 48" to a file = 1 Sec.*
Create a large database with 5,050 wound wires = 43 Sec.
Database search = 312 wound wires/Sec.
Search, calculate wire performance in circuit & sort 614 wound wires from a database of 5,050 wound wires = 25 Sec.
Average time to Design, Engineer, Evaluate wound wires, Draw and export a circuit design = Results vary from 5 Min to 10 Min. per heate2 design.

* Write file to a hard drive (with average R/W and seek ratings)

Test bench computer: Sony Varo® Intel®586 Pentium 200MHz with 64meg RAM, OS Windows98®.
